Masters 2025: Jordan Spieth calls out Augusta National over frustrating mud ball issue.

Jordan Spieth carded a bogey-free 69 in the third round of the 2025 Masters but remained outside contention. Despite solid driving, he voiced concern over “mud balls,” which he believes unfairly impact play—especially on critical holes like 11 and 13.

Though Augusta National attempts to minimize the issue with sand-capped fairways, mud remains a factor. Spieth noted its presence across multiple rounds, particularly in Amen Corner, where it forces conservative strategies and can lead to costly mistakes.

While acknowledging improvements, Spieth criticized the unwritten rule against discussing mud balls. He argues their unpredictability significantly alters scoring opportunities and could shape outcomes for leaders in the final rounds.
