Jordan Spieth vows to stay patient at Players Championship after missing Arnold Palmer Invitational – ‘It bites you’.

Jordan Spieth is set to make his highly anticipated return to the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, marking his first appearance in the event since 2020. The three-time major champion is making just his second PGA Tour start of 2025, following a lengthy recovery from wrist surgery. After undergoing an operation last August to repair ulnar nerve damage in his left wrist, Spieth made his comeback earlier this year at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Entering his 10th Players Championship, Spieth is focused on a more strategic approach, drawing from past lessons at the challenging TPC Sawgrass course. His best finish at the event was a tie for fourth in 2014, but he has struggled with inconsistency in recent years. Speaking to NBC Sports, Spieth emphasized the importance of patience, particularly in his approach shots. He aims to treat the tournament like a major, carefully managing risk and capitalizing on scoring opportunities when they arise.

Spieth’s participation comes after missing last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he was denied a sponsor exemption despite finishing 67th in last year’s FedExCup standings. The available exemptions were awarded to Justin Rose, Rafael Campos, Mackenzie Hughes, and Min Woo Lee, leaving Spieth on the sidelines. Now, back in action, the 2015 Masters champion is eager to regain his form and make a strong statement at TPC Sawgrass.
