Reeves Supports LA’s Fight Against Homelessness.Keanu Reeves is actively supporting efforts to address homelessness in Los Angeles. He played a key role in launching the Los Angeles Unhoused Response Academy (LAURA), an initiative that trains frontline workers to assist unhoused individuals. Founded by Justin Szlasa, LAURA helps professionals transition into nonprofit work to better support the 75,000 unhoused people in Los Angeles County. Reeves’ involvement and financial backing from the United Way of Greater Los Angeles are helping expand the program’s reach.

Szlasa highlights the urgent need for dedicated frontline workers, noting that of the 8,000 people working in homeless services, approximately 2,000 positions remain unfilled. Recognizing this challenge, LAURA provides intensive five-day training to recruit and prepare caseworkers. Reeves’ ongoing commitment underscores the importance of structured support systems for both those experiencing homelessness and the professionals aiding them.

Beyond his work with LAURA, Reeves has a long history of philanthropy. He founded a private cancer foundation after his sister’s battle with leukemia and has raised funds for numerous charitable causes. His generosity extends to auctions supporting children’s hospitals and mental health initiatives. Additionally, he is known for thoughtful gifts, such as motorcycles for “The Matrix Reloaded” stunt team and custom Rolex watches for “John Wick: Chapter 4” stunt performers, reinforcing his reputation as both a humanitarian and a generous colleague.
