Charley Hull and Georgia Hall Eliminated from Sunningdale Foursomes

LPGA Tour stars Charley Hull and Georgia Hall exited the Sunningdale Foursomes after a decisive 4&3 loss to professionals Tom Shadbolt and Ben Evans in the last 16. The Solheim Cup duo had shown strong form earlier, securing victories over Ella and Daniel Butteriss, Ellie Gower and John Wilding, and Portmarnock’s Brandon St. John with Sunningdale member Chloe Ryan before their defeat.

Hall admitted the challenge of playing two rounds in a day had taken a toll, emphasizing that 36-hole days are rare outside the Solheim Cup, especially in cold weather. Whether fatigue played a role in their defeat remains uncertain, but they were not the only high-profile players to bow out early. Two-time DP World Tour winner Callum Shinkwin and partner Dan Brooks also suffered elimination in the last 16, falling 2&1 to Angus Flanagan and Harry Walch.

Shadbolt and Evans’ success was short-lived as they lost narrowly in the quarter-finals to defending champions Harley Smith and Dylan Shaw-Radford. The reigning champions are now aiming to become the first back-to-back winners since 2004. Meanwhile, the semi-finals will see Flanagan and Walch face Monty Holcombe and Oscar Lent, while Smith and Shaw-Radford take on David Corben and Harry Crocket, with both matches set for Friday morning.
