Alpine skiing community mourns loss of junior French champion Margot Simond in training crash.

The alpine skiing community is mourning the tragic loss of 18-year-old Margot Simond, who died during a training session in Val d’Isère on April 24. According to the French Ski Federation (FFS), the accident occurred as Simond prepared for the now-cancelled Red Bull Alpine Park event.

Simond was considered a rising star in the sport, recently competing at the 2025 FIS Junior World Championships and winning the national junior slalom title.
The FFS, along with her club and regional committees, extended their heartfelt condolences and support to her family and loved ones.


Tributes poured in from across the skiing world, including messages from Olympic champions Mikaela Shiffrin and Lindsey Vonn. The International Ski Federation (FIS) also expressed its sorrow, joining the broader community in honoring Simond’s promising legacy and mourning her untimely loss.
