Mikaela Shiffrin closed a challenging season with her 101st World Cup win, taking slalom gold at the Women’s World Cup finals in Sun Valley. Despite injuries, she delivered a dominant performance, finishing with the fastest time and a 1.13-second lead over Germany’s Lena Dürr. Slovenia’s Andreja Slokar placed third.

The 30-year-old American missed four slalom events after a crash in November caused serious injuries. Diagnosed with PTSD in February, she still managed to win four of her six slalom starts. Thursday’s victory was her final race of the season and a powerful comeback statement.

Though Shiffrin didn’t reclaim the slalom season title, she finished fourth overall—an impressive result given her setbacks. Her career now includes 156 podiums and 89 top-three slalom finishes. Croatia’s Zrinka Ljutić claimed the slalom crown, becoming the youngest winner of the crystal globe this season.
