Charley Hull is reaching out to a hair dryer in Florida cold snap.
Charley Hull could not imagine that she will be shivering in Florida.
The English star has been playing on uncharacteristically chilly weather this week at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club, to the extent that she had to use a hair dryer within the locker area to warm her up before the season-opener of the LPGA the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
I turned it on and everybody was asking me what I was doing. Hull said, laughing. I explained to them bluntly– I am freezing to death.
Hull is an Englishwoman, accustomed to cold weather, but she said this Florida cold was different, and it was not finished yet. It is predicted that the temperature will drop below freezing in the early morning on Sunday with a low of about 28 degrees before hardly hitting 45 later in the day. Delays are likely to happen at Frost and this may compel alteration of tee times and the scheduled 4 p.m. finish planned by NBC.
As a large number of players are hunkering down, defending champion A Lim Kim is comforting in the circumstances.
“I love it,” Kim said with a grin. I would rather have this than the humidity.
To Hull the cold was no better than untimely. She has only played a single round in full since the middle of December due to bad weather in her native place. Yet, she remarks that those winter rounds in England were as pleasant as she is faced with now.
On New Year day, she said, it was minus six, frosty and firm and I went out with my bag. I was not freezing so much, I was walking and dressing up.
That notwithstanding, Hull does not enjoy the idea of wearing heavy clothes. She wears less heavy stuff – even when it is a bit too much.
Yesterday I had three pairs of pants on me I joked. He most likely thought that people had assumed he had overdone it during Christmas.
Hull is not looking at the new season as a new start despite the freezing inception. She was ranked No. 5 in the world and ended 2025 on a high note with seven consecutive top-20 finishes and a victory at the Kroger Queen City Championship and a second-place result at the AIG Women British Open.
It is cold or not, Hull comes in 2026 with confidence – hair dryer and everything.
