Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor remains optimistic that Sam Kerr could return before season’s end. The Australian striker, 31, has been sidelined since January 2024 following a serious knee injury but is making promising progress toward a potential comeback.

Chelsea’s ambitions for a quadruple were dashed by Barcelona in the Women’s Champions League.
However, the defending Women’s Super League champions still have four key fixtures remaining, including the FA Cup final against Manchester United on 18 May.

“Sam is working extremely hard,” Bompastor said. “Our performance staff are fully supporting her recovery. With only a few matches left, it’s hard to say for certain, but we are hopeful she will play this season.”
