Does Camila Giorgi look at a tennis comeback in 2026? New videos bring speculations.
The fact that Camila Giorgi simply vanished off the tennis scene in May 2024, put a lot of eyebrows on it and the latest movement on social media has seen the issue surrounding whether the Italian might be planning an unexpected comeback in 2026 re-emerging as a debate.
The once-ranked No. 26 in the world retired silently, without releasing a official statement on his retirement and this move immediately generated rumours back home in Italy. There were also rumours of tax complications with Giorgi and her family which went through the media but the player herself dismissed the rumours strongly. Giorgi won the largest trophy of her career at the WTA 1000 in Canada in 2021 as she was at the height of her career.
Even after abandoning the tour, Giorgi has stayed in the limelight to a large extent. Her Instagram following has also been on the increase owing to her deep passion in fashion as well as consistent flow of glamorous photos that have seen her gain almost 700,000 followers.
The same platform is now being at the heart of new comeback narration. Giorgi recently posted some videos of herself once more on the court where she was hitting balls as she called them pre-season training. The video, featuring training with a Greek athlete, Despina Papamichail, has inevitably given rise to the speculation that she might be looking to make a comeback to professional tennis at the age of 33.
Officially, there has never been any declaration of intentions to resume playing on the WTA Tour, and Giorgi has already said that she does not miss living life as a full-time professional. Nonetheless, the wording of her most recent posts and the time of their release has made the fans question whether the window to a comeback is still open.
Giorgi has spent more time on fashion since she has given up on competition, marketing Giomila clothing brand that belongs to her mother, Claudia. Where her heart would be is never concealed. In 2022, Giorgi wrote that she has always loved fashion, and that the same has been the case since she was a child.
Last year she also made a comeback to the tennis scene and this time in a new capacity where she worked as an interviewer in the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires. It is still unclear whether that is her primary attachment to the sport, or just another step towards the court, but her latest posts have guaranteed one thing: the future of Giorgi, and the prospect of her returning to tennis in 2026, is again a discussion point amongst tennis enthusiasts.
