Emma Raducanu began her grass court singles season in dominant fashion, easing past Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa 6-1, 6-2 at Queen’s. The 22-year-old overcame early nerves to secure a confident victory in just over an hour.

Despite managing ongoing back issues and playing down expectations ahead of the WTA 500 event, Raducanu appeared relaxed and in control on the newly named Andy Murray Arena. She credited her win to staying composed and playing with freedom.

Raducanu now turns her focus to doubles alongside British number one Katie Boulter, before facing Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova in singles on Thursday. Meanwhile, Boulter and Heather Watson also advanced, continuing a strong showing for British players.
