Jordan Spieth’s frustration boiled over during the third round of The Players Championship on Saturday when he threw his club into the water after a costly mistake on the 16th hole. Despite a solid start to the tournament, Spieth’s aggressive approach backfired as he attempted to reach the green in two shots but came up short, leading to a double bogey.

Spieth had been striving to regain his form, entering the round at three under par and eight strokes behind the leader. His performance had been inconsistent, with five birdies and four bogeys before the pivotal 16th hole. While he salvaged pars on the final two holes, the error ultimately turned a promising round into a one-over finish, leaving him tied for 38th heading into the final day.

Determined to recapture his past success, Spieth has taken a more measured approach to his game in 2025, aiming for patience and consistency. The former World No. 1 has faced setbacks due to injuries and inconsistency but remains optimistic about his progress. Despite past struggles, Spieth believes he is on the right path and is confident in his ability to compete at the highest level once again.
