Jordan Spieth endured a frustrating collapse during the third round of The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Starting the day at three-under, the three-time major winner aimed to climb the leaderboard but struggled with inconsistency. Despite carding five birdies, his four bogeys kept him from making significant progress before disaster struck on the 16th hole.

After a solid tee shot on the par-5, Spieth attempted to reach the green in two but misfired, sending his ball into the water hazard. Frustrated, he launched his club in anger, visibly displaying his disappointment. A penalty drop and another errant shot into the bunker resulted in a costly double-bogey, abruptly halting his momentum.

The mistake dropped Spieth from four-under to two-under for the tournament, leaving him nine shots behind leaders Akshay Bhatia and Min Woo Lee. His meltdown highlighted the challenges of the Stadium Course, as his hopes of contending for the title faded with one costly miscue.
