Lindsey Vonn led the American contingent at the FIS World Cup super-G in La Thuile, Italy, securing 13th place with a time of 58.65 seconds. The 40-year-old ski legend showed resilience on a challenging course, while Italy’s Federica Brignone narrowly claimed victory over Sofia Goggia. Despite warm conditions affecting the track, Vonn capitalized on her early start, finishing strong in the final sector.

Reflecting on her performance, Vonn acknowledged improvements from the previous day but expressed a desire for more speed. Her season has been inconsistent, with solid results in Norway followed by a DNF on Thursday. Friday’s race, however, offered a confidence boost ahead of the upcoming World Cup Finals in Sun Valley. Teammates Lauren Macuga and Jackie Wiles finished 19th and 30th, respectively, while other U.S. skiers missed the points.

Brignone continued her dominant season, securing her 10th win and extending her lead in multiple standings. At 34, she remains a top contender for an unprecedented four crystal globes in one season. With fierce competition from Lara Gut-Behrami, Brignone is preparing for a thrilling battle at the Finals, where she hopes to maintain her momentum and make history.
