American skiing icon Mikaela Shiffrin failed to qualify for the second run of the World Cup giant slalom in Sestriere, finishing 33rd as she continues recovering from a November injury. It marked her first DNQ since 2012 in GS or slalom.

Despite progress, Shiffrin remains cautious in her return. She acknowledged not feeling fully herself but expressed gratitude to be competing again. Her comeback included a team gold at the world championships and a fifth-place slalom finish.

Italian star Federica Brignone claimed both Sestriere races, bringing her World Cup win total to 34. Meanwhile, Americans Paula Moltzan and A.J. Hurt delivered solid top-10 finishes, keeping the U.S. team competitive.
