Decorated alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin has joined the ownership group of Denver’s new National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team. Shiffrin, a Colorado native, brings star power to the team, alongside IMA Financial CEO Rob Cohen.

With 101 World Cup victories and two Olympic gold medals, Shiffrin is one of the most successful skiers in history.
She praised Colorado’s vibrant sports culture and the rapid rise of women’s sports nationwide.

The yet-to-be-named NWSL team is slated to begin play next year in a temporary stadium. It joins a growing trend of celebrity-backed sports ventures in Denver, including Lewis Hamilton and Condoleezza Rice.
