Despite ongoing recovery from a serious ACL injury, Matildas captain Sam Kerr delighted fans in Perth by making a public appearance at HBF Park, signing memorabilia and posing for photos with young supporters.
Kerr, who hasn’t played competitively in 18 months, was the pre-match highlight before Australia’s friendly against Slovenia. Her presence electrified the crowd, with kids packing the stands and chanting her name as she made her way along the pitch.
Included in coach Joe Montemurro’s first squad, Kerr remains sidelined after undergoing a second surgery, unrelated to her knee. Still, she appeared upbeat and continues light training while inspiring fans with her dedication and spirit.
